Accommodations were very clean and welcoming. Breakfast was hearty and well put together. Option of gluten-free bread was a nice bonus and much appreciated. Friendly chatter from “Cat” the cat was sweet and entertaining. Overall stay was very pleasant and stress free.

The B&B Is on the A303 so a busy road but not a problem for us, just bear this in mind whilst getting out. We went to Longleat & and Nature farm about half an hour away. Also went shopping in Bath which was great. Lots of things to do within half an hour of the B&B

They are a few pubs nearby to try, we went to the Fox and Hounds and food was delicious and very cozy atmosphere. If you visit Bath, is best not to go on a weekend as it’s very busy but the town is beautiful. Salisbury is a very nice town to visit and lots to see.

Places worth visiting: Wilton, which was the county town in the past. Walk the Town Heritage Trail. The Church of St. Mary and St. Nicholas in Wilton is a “must visit”; Stonehenge and Woodhenge (English Heritage); Shaftesbury – yes, Gold Hill is very steep, but worth the effort; Stourhead (National Trust) – great gardens to explore; Salisbury; and generally enjoy the beautiful Wiltshire countryside.

Wilton House is a lovely place to visit with a wonderful art exhibition and grounds. Salisbury with its cathedral and shops makes for a busy visit. Make the effort to travel along the quieter roads and you will be rewarded with some chocolate box views of ‘old England’. If you grew up watching the ‘Two Ronnies’ and eating Hovis bread then Gold Hill in Shaftesbury is a great visit – don’t forget to look around the museum and ruins of the Abbey.

Thanks for your review and your comments. Normal checkout is 10.30 am but we are happy to extend this when the room is not booked out for the following night. Sadly we can’t be very flexible where the room is booked, because of the time we have to allow for ventilation between guests to comply with COVID protocols. This means turnaround takes a minimum of five hours and, of course, incoming guests can arrive from 4pm. We are sorry we could only be flexible with one of the rooms you booked and hope that didn’t spoil anyone’s enjoyment too much. I should add that even if the rooms have to be vacated, guests are always welcome to stay and enjoy the garden or guest lounge.

Tim and Helen were the perfect hosts, bedroom was lovingly laid out, kids were happy as there was WiFi. Plenty of decent towels and nothing was too much trouble. Location wise it’s in easy reach of some lovely towns and attractions especially good for Longleat.

Family suite was lovely and spacious and quiet x We were worried about the busy road, but it was fine. Was great having adjoining rooms, each with their own telly as this gave privicy for us parents, whilst being able to keep an eye on our daughter. We had a big bed and she had a single. I guess for larger families they make up the sofa bed. Breakfast was fantastic. High quality Sausages, perfectly cooked mushrooms, proper bread and homemade marmalade. – all served at your table, no self service. Hand sanitisers and temperature tested. Great location enroute to Devon or nearby Shaftesbury. Only downside is that there was a shower but no bath and they missed snotty tissues under the bed from previous occupants. But overall it was very clean and fresh. We would have stayed another night but it was fully booked. Has large living/ breakfast room for guests to share. Easy parking and free WiFi.

Shaftesbury is great and has a small market Saturdays. It has historic buildings, good cafes. Old Wardour Castle is 10 minutes drive away from Shaftesbury. This is English Heritage. We’ll worth a visit. Has toilets and shop but no cafe. Stourhead Gardens National Trust is a 15 minute drive away from the hotel. Has toilets and shop. Has a restaurant but not sure if this is open due to Coronavirus

Owner Response
Thank you for the feedback. I am really sorry to hear about the tissues, clearly that should not have happened. Cleaning under the beds happens at every guest changeover, but somehow we missed those tissues. We take cleanliness very seriously and I was pleased that, tissues apart, you were happy with the standard of cleanliness.

Very comfortable and, in the current Covid times, the precautions put in place worked very well and we felt safe. Lovely old house and garden and very relaxing generally, with Tim and Helen very genial, attentive and flexible. Excellent breakfast also! Just a couple of suggestions re the latter: what about considering use of unsliced bread for the toast? Also, perhaps coffee in a caffetiere or pot? However, I do realise that, as you have a coffee machine, you would probably wish to continue with that. Enjoyed our stay very much and, with the pub trips in the evening, it all made our trip, with the purpose of house clearance, a positive experience instead of the reverse!

We did not travel about because of the nature of the visit but did really enjoy our visits to the Grosvenor arms, Hindon, in the evenings, where we found very tasty and interesting food, plentiful also and therefore very good value. Relaxing there, too and friendly, attentive but not intrusive service. There is also a network of paths up on the downs which provide good, quiet walking, with expansive views. Unfortunately we only had time for one walk.
